Mini Lops have been my
favorite breed since I was a ARBA youth member growing
up in Indiana back in
the early 1980's. I think they have a great temperament
and I really like to see how they grow and mature. In my Mini Lop breeding
program I strive for short compact bodies that display
width in approximation with the animals depth. I
am not a proponent that the tallest rabbit should win
unless the rabbit's height (depth) was also in proportion
to it's width. I see lots of times that somewhat
longer and narrower rabbits are scrunched up to show
this great tall rabbit but the rabbit does not have the
same amount of width. If that's the kind of Mini
Lop you are looking for you will not find them with
me. I breed for depth to approximate width.
I
also cull very hard for strong head type, good bone and
a correct rollback coat. I've had some decent
rabbits that I've culled for not enough good fur
qualities.
The colors I mainly work with are Chestnut (black base),
Chinchilla (black base), Opal, Gold Tipped Steel (black
base) and my favorite Silver Tipped Steel (black
base). I also get an occasional self Black.
Below are
links to a few of the show and breeder rabbits I
have. I typically keep a heard of 20-25 breeders
and a show string of 10-12. I also dabble in
Mini Satins (Copper) and Mini Rex
(Sable Point).
